What this site collects
Coffee Brew Guide does not offer accounts, store payment information, or show advertising. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, as described under analytics below.
Like most websites, our hosting provider may process basic technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and security events.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to see which pages are read, how people find the site, and where pages could be clearer. It collects information such as:
- the pages you visit and how long you stay on them
- how you arrived, such as from a search engine or another site
- your approximate location, such as your country or city
- your device type, browser, operating system, and screen size
We use it to look at totals and trends, not to identify individual visitors. Google says that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We do not use Google Analytics to show you ads, and we do not sell or share analytics data with anyone else.
Google may process this information on servers outside your country, including in the United States.
Cookies and browser storage
Analytics cookies are off until you choose Accept in the cookie banner. If you accept, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies to recognize repeat visits:
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Tells visits from the same browser apart | 2 years |
_ga_* | Keeps track of your current visit | 2 years |
Until you accept, or if you reject, Google Analytics sets no cookies. It can still send Google basic information that a page was viewed, without storing anything on your device, which Google uses to estimate visitor numbers. The site sets no advertising or other third-party cookies.
The Brew Compass and Espresso Compass also save your last few results in your browser’s local storage, so you can see them again. That history stays on your device and is never sent to us. Each tool has a Clear history button that deletes it. The ratio calculator remembers your last method, ratio, and amount the same way, so it opens on your usual recipe. Your cookie choice is kept in local storage too, so the banner does not ask again on every page.
Your cookie settings
You can change your mind at any time:
- Use the Cookie Settings link at the bottom of any page to accept or reject analytics cookies. Rejecting removes the Google Analytics cookies this site has set.
- Block or delete cookies for this site in your browser’s settings. The site works normally without them.
If you contact us by email, we receive the address, message, and any information you choose to include. We use it to respond, investigate corrections, and prevent abuse. Do not email sensitive personal information.
Service providers
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests as a hosting, security, and content-delivery provider. Google provides our analytics, as described above. Your information may be processed in locations where these providers operate infrastructure.
Retention
Technical logs are retained according to the hosting provider’s settings. Google Analytics keeps event data for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it. Email is kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain a record of a correction, or address abuse and legal obligations.
Your choices
You can browse without creating an account or subscribing to a mailing list, and you can accept or reject analytics cookies as described in cookies and browser storage. You may ask about or request deletion of information you sent directly, subject to legal and security requirements.
Changes and contact
This policy will be updated before adding advertising, a newsletter, a contact-form provider, or any other service that collects information about visitors. Questions can be sent to hello@coffeebrewguide.com.
